My mum has a 59 plate Mitsubishi Colt CZC (the convertible one). As with many new cars - and thanks to the nanny state - it has a series of annoying chimes. These sound for a wide variety of reasons, including but not limited to;

Starting the ignition before putting on your seatbelt. Bong bong bong...
Driving at any speed (i.e very slow/reversing etc) without your belt on. Bong bong bong...
When the temperate drops to 3 degrees. Bong bong bong...
If your passenger doesn't get out the car quick enough. Bong bong bong...

It wouldn't be so bad if it were more subtle, but it's extremely strident / alarming, not to mention annoying.

What I would like to know, is if there is a way we can turn this off? Is there anything than can be done, short of getting pliers out and snipping wires etc?

All help grateful appreciated. :cool_beans:

Look through the manual. The Doris' ALfa Mito has a ding dong, bing bong etc etc for the same sort of things, even one when you went over 50mph - on any road :lol:

I managed to turn alot of them off, the seatbelt one is the most annoying.

When I got the audi is was set to ding at 10mph and 50mph.

Good job I read the instruction manual...I was on the way to getting the gun ready and shooting sh*t out of the dash. :lol:

I checked with my Ma, they have looked through the manual and can't find anything about it - it's just full of warnings.

She's getting that fed up of it beeping at her they're thinking about getting rid of the car! She had a Puma before which she loved, but she's so disparaging about the CZC - she calls it the 'My Little Pony' car.

Any other ideas please people? They're contemplating snipping wires under the seat.

She's probably prefer that in all honesty. Although she never liked the way my Civic roared, so maybe not.

My mums been to look at the Fiesta, Ka, and Scirocco, she's that sick of it. Can't see the Colt lasting much longer.
